Alien: Isolation Described As Survival Horror
Some new story-based details have come to light on Creative Assembly’s in-development Alien title, said to be called Alien: Isolation. The Xbox Games Store has released a description of the game, calling it a survival horror title.
Most entries in the Alien series of games, what few there have been, were aimed more at action and gunplay. This new entry will aim more towards the shadows where the Aliens lurk, waiting for their chance to pounce. A horror-styled Alien game could be just what the franchise, and gamers, need to reignite their love.
The game’s description, thanks to lifelower, reads:
Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger.
“Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance. As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.
Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.
The description also states that Alien: Isolation will feature both single-player and four player co-operative gameplay. Isolation sounds brilliant so far, and I cannot wait to see how it turns out.
Creative Assembly is most notable for their Total War series, a hybrid mix of real-time strategy and turn-based strategy. It will be interesting to see what they do with, presumably, a first-person title.
