Bungie Intends To Deliver On Destiny Hype

Bungie and publisher Activision have shown off quite a bit of Destiny and released new details and content nearly weekly for the upcoming “shared-world shooter.” That amount of hype may be hard to live up to for some developers, but Bungie is working hard to deliver on everything they’ve said for the game. Destiny is an ambitious title, that much is clear.

In the latest Weekly Update, Bungie said:

We talked a big game last year. We were so excited to talk about our future. Now, it’s time to deliver.┬áIt’s time to close this out in a way that we will all be proud of. We owe that to ourselves, and to our legacy. But most of all, we owe it to you.

Bungie recently invited a few writers from various magazines and websites out to its offices to show a pre-alpha version of Destiny. Bungie said:

or you, that means the floodgates are about to burst wide open. You’ll be hearing from them soon. They’ll be loaded with shiny new assets. It will mark the beginning of your true introduction into the world of Destiny.

We hope, more than anything, that you love what you seen.

Destiny will launch on September 9th for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. A beta is planned for this summer, launching first on the Sony consoles.

Activision is expecting Destiny to become the “best-selling new video game IP in history.” Do you believe it will live up to that claim?
