Dark Souls 2 Gameplay Revealed

Just when you thought you were done reliving the nightmares brought on by Dark Souls, here comes Dark Souls 2 to drag you back into the darkness. The friendly folks at IGN sat down with global producer Tak Miyazoe and director/translator, Yui Tanimura to show off a 12 minutes gameplay preview of their next cult dungeon crawler. Tanimura-san explains the changes made to gameplay, graphics and mechanics in the game that will both enhance player experience and increase the frequency of changing underwear.

Remember that trick where the hero would sidestep an enemy, allowing for a powerful backstabbing blow? Yea, that’s going to be much more difficult to pull of in this game; enemies are more intuitive than in the previous title. Shown in the video below, attempting the maneuver mentioned above will have the hero end up flat as a pancake on the dungeon floor (watch the video and you’ll see what I’m talking about). And of course for your entertainment, the creators give fans a little extra bonus footage at the end that plays to the game’s central theme: Deaths and lots of ‘em!

Dark Souls 2 does not have a release date as of yet. However, what has been confirmed is that it will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360. Although cliche, I will still asks this question: are you ready to die? (again…and again and again and…)
