Disney Infinity Delayed

Disney Interactive announced this morning that their upcoming title, Disney Infinity, has been delayed by two months. The game will now be released August 18th in North America and August 20th in Europe.

According to The New York Times, Disney made this decision stating that the later date was “more favorable”.

Disney Interactive Co-President John Pleasants explained the decision:

We could deliver in June if we wanted to. Will a two-month timing change help us? Sure, of course. It gives us a little more time to add bells and whistles and make sure it really sings and pops.

Disney Infinity was originally set to be released in June to coincide with Monsters University coming to the big screen. They delay will allow the developers more time to work on Infinity and Skylanders Swap Force which is due out at the end of the year as well.

Disney Infinity will feature various worlds from famous Disney productions, including Monsters Inc., The Incredibles, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Characters from specific films may not enter the worlds of other Disney characters. But in the Toy Box mode players can put any combination of characters together, where they can customize and explore the world.

Disney Infinity will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U, Wii, and 3DS systems.
