Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Officially Confirmed

Ubisoft has officially confirmed the upcoming standalone expansion to Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon. Blood Dragon will be released on the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC on May 1st.

We finally get an official confirmation after the many rumors regarding the sci-fi expansion. Blood Dragon is about as far away as possible from Far Cry 3 so hopefully this long shot works out because the game looks amazing.

The official description for Blood Dragon reads:

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter taking place on a bizarre open-world island crawling with evil. Welcome to an 80’s VHS vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sargent Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando who’s fighting against a cyborg army gone rogue. Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons, mutants, and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals) collide. Playing Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon doesn’t require a copy of Far Cry 3.

Being standalone means players are not required to be own Far Cry 3, instead they may purchase and play right away. Although I do recommend picking up Far Cry 3 at some point as well.

Keep an eye out for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on May 1st on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
