Guild Wars 9th Anniversary Kicks Off Early
A mistake on the part of the developers has proven quite lucky for the fans of the hit MMORPG Guild Wars. Developer ArenaNet has discovered a mistake that has brought about the 9th anniversary celebrations early, instead of on April 22nd, 2014 like originally planned. The celebration instead began earlier this month on April 2.
Guild Wars programmer Joe Kimmes has confirmed it was a typo by someone at the studio. The official celebration was to begin tomorrow, April 22. Kimmes discussed how players can benefit from early celebrations, saying:
Looks like the internal schedule had a typo of 2 instead of 22. I’m checking with people to find out if I should turn it off until the intended date, but for now feel free to enjoy the early birthday celebration!
The plan is to fix the anniversary start date for next year and let players get the benefits of the mistake this year. Enjoy the extended birthday celebration!
Players will be able to receive free birthday cupcakes up until April 29th. ArenaNet has also allowed entrance to the dragon Arena and Rollerbeetle Races. In addition, players will be able to interact with new NPCs, participate in new events, and launch fireworks into the sky. Players can check out the fireworks display at the Great Temple of Balthazar, Lion’s Arch, Shing Jea Monastery, and Kamadan.
Guild Wars‘ 9th anniversary celebration is in progress, enjoy the festivities now, they only last until April 29th.
