A Reddit user by the name of monkeymad2 is developing a way for users to stream videos from PC to Wii U. The application is currently in Beta stages with a few bugs that need to be worked out, but it does play almost all .mp4s perfectly.
The application, currently named VidiiU Streamer, turns your computer into a server to stream your videos onto your Wii U. On the console all videos are set up in an easy to use list, so you can find your favorites anytime.
So far the app allows you to play mp4 videos, sorts the videos into the Show.Name.S01E01 format and into different sections. Each episode has its own thumbnail to make searching for something to watch easier. And videos downloaded within the last two days will display a ‘new’ tag on them.
Monkeymad2 has a whole list of features that he plans on implementing in the future. These include Support for Trans-coding( turning videos that aren’t playable on the Wii U into videos that are) and Improved GUI.
If this sounds like something you have been searching for, don’t hesitate to download the app now. And if you are feeling generous the website has a donate button at the top right.
