Indie developers are starting to get recognition within the gaming industry. And Nintendo has shown interest in bringing the MonoGame Framework unto the Wii U console as reported by Siliconera.

The MonoGame Framework is, it is an open source version of Microsoft’s XNA 4.X  Framework used for easy cross-platform development.  It has previously been used by quite a few developers to create iterations of games for multiple platforms.

Titles such as Fez, and Bastion have benefited from MonoGame Framework by re-using their codes through the framework.

There are other platforms that do support the MonoGame Framework, and they are:

  • Android
  • iOS
  • Windows Phone 8
  • PlayStation Mobile
  • Window PC
  • Mac
  • Linux
  •  OUYA
  • Wii U

Well remember Nintendo’s announcement in early August, that they do have a growing support of indie developers, and that they will make available as much as 30 new indie titles in Wii U eShop by New Year – well it looks like they have finally managed to followed through and now we know how they plan on doing it.
