Soul Sacrifice Demo Available Now!
Sony Computer Entertainment is rolling out their newest IP Soul Sacrifice with a bang. So many times gamers are teased with demos of amazing titles. Yes, they do get a sneak peak of the gameplay and mechanics. However, it serves to whet their appetites just enough to want more before the demo ends in an abrupt cliffhanger. The folks at Sony decided to make a few changes to this common pattern of promotion. Those that download the demo will get a large chunk of the game to enjoy; how does the whole first chapter of the full game sound? Good, right?
Game Designer Keiji Inafune felt that gamers get a better feel for Soul Sacrifice after experiencing a larger portion of the exciting action-adventure RPG. Reported via the Playstation Blog, he had this to say:
We knew that cutting out a small section of the game and saying, ‘Isn’t this part fun?’ would not show the users the full potential of the game. We figured that it wouldn’t make sense if the users could not have the ‘I want to play more’ feeling.
The first chapter is pretty lengthy and will have players pulling off amazing spells, devastating attacks on colossal enemies, maybe even sacrificing a body part (or partner) or two. With all the loot collected and experience characters gain, it would be a shame to have to start all over. Well, you don’t have to. Progress and skills earned throughout the demo can be saved and transferred to the full version of the game (Oh Sony. You really do spoil us with your awesome!)
This is a great strategy that I feel many developers should adopt. Players will be more than confident in deciding whether to purchase the game upon its release. Speaking of, Soul Sacrifice will be hitting store shelves April 30th for PS Vita. So what are you waiting for? Dive into the demo now!
