Trine 2: Director’s Cut has remained one of the best selling and best looking indie games on the Wii U eShop. This doesn’t look like it will change anytime soon, and now Frozenbyte is looking to the future.
Frozenbyte has already stated that a Trine 3 will be made sometime in the future, when is up in the air at the moment however. During an interview with Gaming Bolt, Frozenbyte discussed their plans for this year:
We will be moving on to other IP as we feel this is the best way for us to grow as a company. 2013 will be quite a year for us and we aim to please with some cool announcements. As for the Trine franchise, it is clearly our most successful so far making a third instalment a no brainer. Having said that, we don’t want it to feel like Trine 2.5, but rather a large leap and something even more awe inspiring. So that might take a while.
During another interview with Nintendo Life the developers marketing manager Mikael Haveri revealed that the Magic Mayhem DLC was currently “on the backburner” and will stay there until the developer decides what to work on next.
We do know that Frozenbyte loves the Wii U and will continue to create games for the brand new system, they stated that “it is the console to beat”.
