Duncan Jones, the director for films such as Moon and Source Code, has been confirmed as the official director for the upcoming World of Warcraft movie. If the movie is anything like some of Blizzard’s cutscenes then we are in for an epic film.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Legendary Pictures will be handling the World of Warcraft live-action movie, and the film will have a budget “north of $100 million”. This should be more than enough to create an amazing big-screen adaption for the series.
Filming for the movie is expected to begin late this year and is currently planned for a 2015 release. This is going to make a lot of fans quite anxious, but with the time frame they could do a whole lot with the game world.
Duncan Jones posted on Twitter about the film:
So the gauntlet was thrown down ages ago: Can you make a proper MOVIE of a video game. Ive always said its possible. Got to DO it now!
The story-line for the movie has so far been kept quiet, we do know who will be writing it however. Charles Leavitt, who has worked on projects such as The Express, Blood Diamond, and K-PAX, will be handling the writing.
